First of all, know which type of people shop in yard sales. It will be mostly college students who are setting up their own home or kids who are starting out on their own. Other types of people are the ones who have come to live temporarily. Most of these people do not go to regular stores because they do not have the budget and are looking to pick things cheaply. That means a yard sale is interesting because it is cheap. Make sure your prices are low. However, remember while pricing items that you are selling them and not throwing them away.
Whenever you clean your house, designate a separate box for yard sales. The items that you put into this box should be in good condition. You cannot sell broken items. If there is something that can be fixed to look normal, then you can do that and only then put it up on a yard sale. If there is a flawed item but yet useful, then make it clear to the customer and offer a good price.
