Calculate Property Taxes
Property tax is the tax imposed by the municipalities upon the owner of the property on properties that fall into their jurisdiction. The tax imposed is based on the value of the property assessed by the municipality. It is irrespective of the fact as to how much the owner thinks the property is worth of or how much profit he makes. |

Calculating your property tax is an easy way to make a good budget. Many times, property taxes change budgets by affecting them in a big way. So, to calculate your property tax first of all find out the assessment value of the property. It is not important as to what the property is worth according to you or how much profit you will make from selling the property. The taxes are solely on the assessment values according to the municipality. The total estimated value for your property is the sum of the value of the property along with the building.
Research the estimated property tax for the coming year and make sure if you are eligible for any kind of tax exemptions. Contact the local tax office to find out whether you are eligible for any tax exemptions. People over the age of 65 or handicapped are eligible for certain tax exemptions. Then, multiply the amount of the assessed value of your property to the estimated property tax rate percentage for the coming year for each taxing district that your property falls under separately. Add up the amounts for each taxing district to calculate the total estimated amount you will be required to pay in property taxes. It is best to budget more than the estimated amount.
