The publicity given to these checks is really high and everybody keeps talking about them, with the internet helping in getting the word out.
So, when can a tax relief check be expected? The checks have been sent to a batch of eligible taxpayers, based on the 2007 tax return standards. For those whose incomes have changed since 2007, or have had a job loss, or faced a dip in earnings from their investments, certain qualifications have been granted. If one is single, he is entitled up to $600 credit and if married, $1200. For a divorced parent with a legal dependent child, an additional $300 for a child under 17 years is granted.
Based on 2008 tax information, whatever one qualifies for in 2008 as a rebate is offset by the rebate received in 2007. So, if there is any additional rebate to be received in 2008, it would be added to amount given in 2007.
It is best to not expect to find your tax relief check in your mail. Usually, the amount will be added to any refund that is due to you, or as another option, you stand to get a reduction in the tax bill that you do have pay anyway. The good news is that everybody is eligible for because of the new Economic Stimulus Package announced by the Obama government.
People, who have filed their taxes on time, can expect the tax rebate check by July. Those who have filed their returns after April 15, will have receive it 2 weeks later than others.
